There are seven Dondonya Japanese restaurants in Hong Kong to choose from, including one outlet within Maritime Square (33 Tsing King Road).
The restaurant, founded in 2010, specialises in quality Japanese donburi (rice bowl) meals, serving food made from traditional recipes with a modern twist.
Donburi, sometimes abbreviated simply as “don“, consists of various ingredients served over rice in a large ceramic bowl.

Traditional donburi might have Gyudon beef and onion on rice, Oyakodon-simmered chicken, egg and onion on rice, or Katsudon-breaded deep-fried pork cutlets on rice.

Only the best ingredients are used in making of the food, including short grain rice, the core ingredient, imported directly from Japan.
Plaza Hollywood.
The Japanese restaurant also utilises purified water in the cooking, which preserves the original and true flavour of rice.

In addition to authentic donburi meals, other Hong Kong favourites at the outlets include Sanuki Udon (from Kagawa Prefecture in Japan), Japanese Curry (Beef Curry from Kansai and Pork Curry from Kanto), and Katsuretsu items.
