All-day dining restaurant and bar The Parlour is located within Hullett House hotel, at 2A Canton Road. (UPDATE 2022: THE OUTLET HAS CLOSED)
The Parlour operates as a grand chinoiserie lounge, made into the perfect place to entertain visitors or simply for indulging oneself.
At the restaurant, the service starts with an English breakfast, followed by an elegant selection of lunch alternatives, afternoon tea, and later in the evenings, the day ends with romantic dinners and exotic cocktails.
The menu for lunch and dinner is constructed from internationally-inspired cuisine, as is the à la carte menu, available throughout the day.
Many come here for the expertly-mixed, Hong Kong inspired cocktails, such as the signature items on the drink list, Dragon’s Back and Hulletini.
If you’re looking for just something satisfying & quick to eat, The Parlour also has a selection of gourmet sandwiches, smoothies, and vegetarian options.
As for the design, the restaurant includes three rooms, each distinctively and colorfully decorated with a nod to the rich heritage of Hong Kong.
East Room (with capacity for 40 diners) has has walls with beautiful, hand-painted canvases that depict Victoria Harbour at the turn of the 19th century, a time when sea-going vessels crowded the place for their trade.
At the opposite end of The Parlour is the West Room (for 40 customers), where Brighton’s historic Royal Pavilion is depicted within the walls – showcasing a stunning example of early 19th century architecture and reflecting King George IV’s (of England) enthusiasm for all things chinoiserie.
The middle room (which has a capacity for 40 guests) features the Dragon Bar, with highlights such as the dramatic dragons on Chinese “shadow” lanterns, against a pink sunset sky above a long, double-fronted bar for customers.
